I really need to work on coming up with catchy titles for these posts Anyway I did get some things done during my snow weekend 🙂
I finished the bracelet for a client, made another bracelet, and started a third (but it needs some work to get to a point that I like). I also got a few bracelets listed (including a few more colors of the fishtail rubber-band bracelets).
I think I’ll leave you with my new bracelets (click on the photo to go to the listing). All the viking knit bracelets have a light airy feel (it’s pretty awesome if I do say so myself ;)) and there’s free shipping countrywide so I suggest taking advantage of it 🙂
Now this last one is the custom listing but if you would like something similar in silver (or gold) message me (however is easier for you) that you would like this bracelet.
That’s it for today 🙂 I decided to take an extra snow-day (the weather is still not the greatest, it’s icy :() So I’d better find something interesting to do 🙂 Oh and big news! I got a job 😀 Now I’m an office assistant on campus. I start this week 🙂
Have a great Monday! 😀 (if that’s possible that is ;))
Now don’t forget you can follow me on twitter (here), visit my Etsy shop (here), or like my Facebook page (here)
I decided to use up the last of my resin pendant supplies. Maybe people will like these pendant, buy them, and give me enough money to buy more bezels. I want to add a line of bracelets, earrings, and rings. But I can’t afford it at the moment. You guys can help me 🙂 Go visit my Indiegogo Project (here) or buy one of my pendants directly (here) 🙂
So what do you guys think? 🙂
If you have a cool color combination that you would like to own, donate to my Indiegogo campaign. You get a custom piece (pendant, earrings, bracelet, or ring) and don’t have to pay for shipping! Isn’t that a great deal! 😀
I promised you guys on Friday that I had a project in the works 🙂 Well here it is! I started a kickstarter project to help me fund an expansion of my glitter resin jewelry. I want to add glitter resin earrings, rings, and other pendant shapes.
I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me 🙂 With the supplies I need I will be able to expand my shop and make new tutorials. I’ve run out of my pendant supplies so I haven’t been able to make the tutorials I’ve promised you guys. And I really want to give you guys tips on making resin jewelry! 😀
So guys please help me, whether it is sharing my kickstarter with others or donating, I won’t be able succeed without you guys! 😀
You can visit it here 🙂
Boy I’ve been gone for a while 😛 Since my last post I’ve started school, I’ve taught myself how to knit, and I made some new products for my etsy shop.
There’s not much to say about school. I’ve already had 3 midterms and I’ve only been in class for about a month. I’ve learned that I really don’t like marketing and I hate my ethics class even more. I do really like my accounting class (that’s a good thing considering my intended major in accounting 🙂 ).
I think that in the next few days (time permitting) I’ll post photo’s of what I’ve knitted (with links to the free patterns of course 😉 ), so stay tuned.
So moving on I think I’ll show you guys what I’ve just listed in my etsy shop 🙂 (Click on the photo’s to go to my shop)
They’re cute, huh? 🙂 I really like how these turned out. I made a few other ones, but I don’t like them enough to post. I’ll show you guys eventually what else I made. I think when I post a tutorial on polymer clay applique. It’s a really cool technique that almost no tutorials exist for. I had to figure it out on my own 😛
Well that’s it for now. I have a bunch of stuff going on this week…I think. I know I have a job shadow at Ernst & Young that I’m really looking forward to 🙂 I might be seeing a movie with some friends and I’m probably going to help out at a church event all weekend. Why is that whenever I have plans, I have a ton of plans that pile up all at once? I can never have just a bit going on every week 🙂
Are there any kind of posts you guy’s would like to see more of? Maybe something weekly? I think I’d post more often if I had some sort of deadline 🙂
So I finally put up some more stuff on etsy and guess what? I have some totally new designs up 🙂 But first I think I will show you guys my favorite bracelet.
I just love this bracelet 🙂 If you look closely you can see that the viking knit has two different colors in it. One of these days I’ll show you guys how to do this 🙂 Just remind me okay? 😀
Now the next piece is a set of earrings in a chainmaille style
I’ve been calling them rosette earrings. I’m not really sure how to describe them otherwise 😛 I really wish I had my ears pierced. I would totally wear these 🙂 I also have another set of earrings up that have two rosettes, so they are shorter than these are ( You can check them out here )
Finally the last two pieces I put up for sale are an experiment for me. They are mixed media bracelets. More specifically I decided to mix viking knitting with bamboo cording. This is the result 🙂
I think they both turned out pretty good. I like the top one the most 🙂 (But the lizard is so cute 😛 It’s sooo hard to decide!) I’m trying to think of more ways to mix the two materials. I haven’t been able to find anyone else who makes these so hopefully I’ve found a niche 😀
What do you guys think? Which is your favorite item? 😀
And don’t forget to visit and like my facebook page 😀
And to visit my etsy store 😉
So I promised to show you guys a new experimental project I’ve been working on. Its been a few weeks since then since I am lacking motivation Better late than never, huh? 🙂
So here we go…. revealing…. my resin jewel pendants!!!
I normally only use resin in bezels, but I decided it was time to experiment with using molds some more. I was also bored so I decided to see what would happen if I added glitter…. and acrylic paint 🙂 I discovered that glitter works great. You do have wait for the resin to get thicker before mixing in the glitter. Otherwise it settles to the bottom (which becomes the top when you pop out the resin from the molds). To make the pink one I just sprinkled some glitter over the top of the mold and let it settle. The acrylic paint made the jewels a bit soft, I think I put in too much. It also isn’t a look I like. I’m talking about the red ones by the way.
The only problem with making this kind of pendant (or one of the problems now that I think about it :P) is that the come out matte. Like the picture below. See, no shine. To fix this you have to brush on a thin coat of resin. Then they look like the top photo. Tip: Stick the brush you use in rubbing alcohol. Let it sit, then rinse off in water. That way you can reuse the brush (anyway it worked out fine for me) 🙂
The next hurdle to tackle with these is attaching them to a necklace. The plastic things I used to make the molds had a hole running through them but the mold broke there on most of these. So I have some with holes running through all the way, some that have holes that only go halfway, and some with none. I think I’ll buy bails that I can glue on the back at some point. The ones with holes running through are no problem, I just need to attach a jump ring.
The ones with half a hole are a bigger problem. Supposedly we have a dremel somewhere in the garage. The problem is where? 😛 I may never see it…then again maybe I will, things sort of appear in a handy place eventually at my house 🙂 Oh well, we’ll see what I end up doing with them 🙂
I have a new product up!! Told ya that I was doing something with my summer 😀
I have two new viking knit necklaces up. This time I figured out a way to add my signature glitter resin pendants 🙂 You can buy them in my store.
The weather still sucks here so the pictures are pretty terrible 😛 Still looks cool though, huh 😀
This is the second one 🙂 So buy them now!! 😀
I still have some more projects brewing 😉 I just have to wait for them to finish curing. Very soon I will be able to show you guys 🙂 Until then check out my shop 😀
Any ideas for what I should do this summer? 🙂
